I don't like the uniforms of these policemen - Darth Vader helmets. There is something very wrong when policemen have to dress like that to face the public.

I think they are a bit worse than the British police in riots and manifestations. But not a lot. I guess people get beaten up worse at the police station though, if media rumours are anything to go by.

And why is the demonstration on 6 May? Why not on 1 May like everyone else in Europe? Or has it been dropped as a public holiday?

What was the demonstration about?
Did they have a manifest or some objectives?

Уже известно, что провокацию организовали сотрудники ФСБ в масках, и первыми, кто клюнул на эту наживку, стали оголтелые болггеры, которые начали выкладывать дискредитирующие фотографии на форумах. Провокаторов ОМОН не задерживал. Омоновцы были предупреждены, что ФСБ готовит провокацию, чтобы сотрудники ОМОН не сопротивлялись, когда в них бросают камни и фаеры. Помимо этого того, власти специально запустили людей в узкое пространство и никого не выпускали. Для обеспечения массовки своего спектакля под названием "Прорыв". Выйти из "котла" было нельзя (как это можно было сделать на Сахарова). Всеми правдами и неправдами власть маргинализирует протестующих граждан.

As you may recall, I usually praise "Russia Today" - the RT news site and TV channel. Their coverage of Europe is usually really good and they do excellent documentaries and have some very interesting personalities working there.

But their coverage of these Moscow protests seems biased!

They are blowing up some ongoing demonstrations in London, while at the same time playing down and almost ridiculing the protests in Moscow. Judging on the comments here, the Moscow protests are definitely worth analysing and reporting on. It reduces their credibility if they jump on protests in London or New York, but laugh off the same thing in Russia.

I hate to say it, but their coverage of these Moscow protests are very reminiscent of mainstream American media's coverage of Occupy Wall street. I hope they start treating it more seriously.

Сегодня я собственными глазами видел, как полиция провоцирует людей. Дело было на площади под высоткой на Баррикадной. Где-то в десятом часу, совершенно неожиданно полиция стала задерживать людей, вообще безо всякой причины. После этого часть толпы начала прокалывать колеса автозакам и перекрывать движение по Садовому. Задержание проходило очень аккуратно, думаю, из-за большого числа англоговорящих иностранцев, присутствующих на площади. Но точно никаких причин для задержания не было.

Думаю, точно такая же тактика была на Болотной.

У некоторых протестующих были рации и они координировали свои действия в разных районах. Наверное, их теперь обвинят в заговоре и перевороте.
