Oh, ok. I guess that's what happens when you try to listen to something that's above your skill level and fill in the blanks with guesses!
Totally misunderstanding something is the worst part of learning a language.
Frankly I joined the forum for the language aspect and keep getting distracted and carried away by the politics. As you can tell, it's something that interests me a lot. But I really need to reverse this! All the initial questions I had about the politics of Russia and the ex-USSR were answered a long time ago. I should spend my time in the language section instead.

Thanks for the transcript Alex - I check it out in a sec.

This is definitely a mainstream media.

Look at the histeric that started at 4:32. "Savik, let's stop this ... propaganda. I understand that he saw that with his own eyes but to spread this BS to whole Ukrain it's just a shame...." (said in Ukrainian)
And all others were like that.
Finally they came to a conclusion that he's either Putin's agent or just crazy

Here's brief stranscript of that show

BTW Mark Franchetti speaks russian with heavy accent but with amazing fluency and knowlege of slang

Don't get discouraged. Anyone can make a mistake and don't forget, language = language + culture. I think it could easily happen that someone could speak fluent Russian and still not understand Russians when they speak. That's because you can't separate the language from the people - It's basically the same thing.
And it's even more interesting than that. I thought I knew the Russian alphabet till I saw some commemorative coins. That's how I learned about the old Church Slavonic alphabet that was developed in Byzantium in the 900's AD. But now that I know the Church Slavonic alphabet, I can read all the new commemorative coins. There's new ones now for the Victory of the Russian Fleet, the Church of St. George in Dzivgis village, the house museum of Ivan Turgenev, and the Epiphany old Golutvin Monestary btw. It's also been helpful to study phraseology. A new one I learned last night was Кузькина мать (Kuzka's mother). It basically means "I'll show you!" and it was used in N. G. Pomyalovsky's novel "Брат и сестра" and also in Chekhov's "Хамелеоне" ("Он увидит у меня, что значит собака и прочий бродячий скот. I'll show him gruel... Learning a new language is like an amazing adventure because you learn about the people too and the history and everything else.
But I really don't get how I missed the development of old Church Slavonic when I was studying Byzantium. But hey, even I make mistakes.

Anyway, I did notice that the interviewer wasn't responding to anything that dude was saying. She just wanted him to keep talking. It was almost like an interrogation.

Thanks for the transcripts! That really helps and I think it's important for news like that to reach other Western people who can't transliterate Russian youtubes.

Btw, I hope it-ogo is okay.

That reminds me russian army of the 90s. When russia has american puppet government. Many guys just died for nothing because of stupid commanders. Those "generals" who took their positions for bribes had no idea of a real histilities. All they wanted was to make money selling weapons.

I get so upset at this that I can't even write about it anymore.

This will not be forgotten or forgiven within the lifetimes of the people who had to flee, had friends or relatives killed, or their houses. How could they? If the government of my country had tried to kill people in my region and bombed it, I 'd want nothing more to do with it. Surely that's how most people would react?

It seems inconceivable that they go back as if nothing had happened and just continue on like before.

And Europeans who imagine they care about human rights and fairness are fed lies and propaganda in mainstream media. They don't know what's going on and imagine that it is somehow Russia's fault that people are being killed in Donbass.

I understand why it-ogo got too upset with some comments by Russian members to continue participating. But I would really like to hear how she feels about it now, and if she still believes everything that happens there is Russia's fault.

What are Putin's plans regarding this? Is he as shocked as everybody else, or does he have a blueprint he is working ? If so, what?

That's certainly what I always assumed. But Alex said it was a woman, did you see that... Maybe it was intended as a not-so-polite insult to call him a woman? Or Alex simply got mixed up. But I assumed he knew something I didn't...

I remember myself talking with him on the forum a couple of years ago, and even though he never directly said that (neither did I put up the question that way), it was just too obvious it was him, not her. Anyway, that's the price one pays for picking such ambiguous and indistinguishable nicknames, and that's why I never do. =))

One of the things that help to distinguish a thinking, open minded human being from an information war spawn is the information one reposts.

I believe that when some information compromises one side the only source that could be trusted is the official source of that very side. In this case that information is admitted by those whom it could be used against. And that more or less proves it to be true.

An of course qouting some social network posts is just out of the question.
