Search your feelings: would an action on that scale be possible by the CIA to conduct without that being somehow-wiki-leaked a couple of weeks beforehand? Your feelings betray you not. The CIA is not an all-mighty, it's a bureaucracy, they can't do such things. Their primary job is to justify their expensive existence to the government. Most of the information is obtained legally, no need for the expensive undercover operations.
