has Russia always had daylight savings or is this just a recent thing and I'm just slow?

Daylight Saving Time. Along with people who think the "millenium [sic]" began in 2000, "sherbert," and "nucular" this is one of the top things that make Mike go berserk.
But yes, I want to know when they adopted it. All I can find is that they have the largest number of time zones (11).
yes, it makes me mad too. we don't have it here, because for once in there pitifull lives, our polititions did somthing positive.Originally Posted by mike
It's not like you can make the sun stay up longer or anything, and getting up for work in the freezing cold, and the dark, are two other things that piss me off.

Well it conserves energy and reduces crime by getting most people home from work before the sun goes down.
i liev it because in the summer the sun is out till 10 pm.
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!
Yerh, but in the winter theres only a few days here where the sun would be up when I get up, so it just means that I have to used the power in the morning, and not only that, I have the heater set to go on in the morning now.Originally Posted by mike

DST is not so recent... it was a late "communist times" innovation. Can't remember exactly... IMHO, it started sometimes in 1982-84.

I think you're right, it must have been in the early 1980's cuz my dad who's in his late 50's now still badmouths the whole deal and back in the eighties he did so even more, I remember me and him taking a walk and he looked up at the sky and saw some special kind of clouds up there that only appear at a certain time and before DST those clouds had always appeared at 9 am and now it was already 10 am and my dad commented on them jerks setting all the clocks one hour forward but not being able to fool the nature. imho the whole thing is crap, it may save energy but it certainly harms people, me personally it takes up to one week to adjust to the DST time shift, it's like a mild jet lag and no one will argue that jet lags are bad for your health.Originally Posted by Scorpio
Yes, but it means in the fall you get to sleep an extra hour.
There are places in the United States that don't use daylight saving time either, like South Bend Indiana. The greatest university in the world is located there and they dont use daylight saving time because the cows wouldn't like it, or something like that. Yes my friends, University of Notre Dame .
