Those dities were implied to the USA and UK as they were the only true winners in the WW2. Thus, the USA now is free to leave NATO.
Did you learn that from the "How make enemies in Russia" book?
Every Russian believes that the most noble thing Russia did in the XX century is that it defended world from Hitler.
What do Americans know about WW2 anyway? They spend most of it in jungles.

I hoped Russia is not the empire of evil anymore.
Oh, yes. We are. Evil, I mean. Mwahahaa.

I don't think there is anyting :o about that statement. Japan is allied to the U.S. and relies on its military to protect them (they have a pacifist constitution (although they are thinking of changing that)). Taiwan is in a similar situation and american warships protect the Taiwan islands... Let's not even talk about Israel :)

Okaay. :)
I was just surprised that he chosed these three countries in particular.

Well, I'd sign any peace treaty after I'd been bombed with nuclear weapons. The term "allies" doesn't pop in mind though. And Japan was denied to have any military force after WW2.

You make it sound like USA was the evil agressor and has been surpressing Japan for all these years :)
As you might remember from history class, Japan happened to be the agressor in WWII. Japan is considered a close ally of the USA not because USA wants it to, but because Japan also wants to. You don't think that Japan's current status as a world economic power is purely coincidential do you? Yes, the pacifist consitution was rewritten under the guidance of the US, but you haven't hear any resentment about it until recently. So, whether you have grudges against the US or not, Japan is a willing ally of the US.

Actually we are :)
And BTW, we only spent about half of WW2 in jungles
The New American Cold War
The New American Cold War
Stephen F. Cohen
Contrary to established opinion, the gravest threats to America's national security are still in Russia. They derive from an unprecedented development that most US policy-makers have recklessly disregarded, as evidenced by the undeclared cold war Washington has waged, under both parties, against post-Communist Russia during the past fifteen years.

Америка развязывает новую 'холодную войну'
("The Nation",
