    Another Post About McDonald's!

For posterity, NO COUNTRY WHICH HAS MCDONALDS HAS EVER BEEN AT WAR WITH THE UNITED STATES. I definately saw МакДоналдс in Petersburg, therefore long live Russia! Come to think of it, going to war with America would be a big morale buster. All of the sudden, the cheap McDonalds food just stops flowing. Чёрт возьми!

McDonalds food in Russia is the same price it is in America which means it's very expensive for the average Russian family.
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.

Actually It is slightly less expensive. For example here a Биг Мак costs about 80r. And a Ройал с сыром is the same price. If my memory serves me correctly, a Биг Мак was about 50r.

When were you last in Russia? The big "special" for February was 2 (skimpy) cheese burgers for 59p. That is $2 where the same burgers cost only 60 cents each here in Los Angeles. In Moscow for 59p I can buy 8 big loaves of fresh bread!

When I was there in the fall McDonalds was cheaper in St. Petersburg than in Moscow.

That said, it's pretty easy to say that the US hasn't had a war with any country who has McDonalds, when you consider that the US hasn't declared war in, like, forever. Just blee-de-blee military actions.

I found a hilarious picture of McDonalds in Moscow in BBC that I fortunately took a screenshot of. Check it out. In particular pay close attention to the file properties and the filename that the BBC staff gave the picture themselves. Check out the Russian blubber sweater he is wearing.

I forgot what the name of the documentary was, but some guy only ate McDonalds for 30 days and gained like 90kilos or something like that.

It was called Super Size Me. And he gained 10kg, not 90. I don't think it's humanly possible to gain 90kg in one month You'd have to like, eat a wagon full of infants coated in powdered sugar and deep fried.

Germany has mcdonalds. I think i recall 2 minor skirmishes with them . Or maybe, you meant that since they opened mc donalds we have gone to war with them ?
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!

I am sure he means since they opened, not regardless of chronological order. Anyway it is a coincidence of globalized trade so who cares one way or the other. A more interesting and less empty assertion would be something like, "America has never gone to war with any country that was friendly to United Fruit Co. and ITT."

Here, in Moscow, standart hamburger cost only 16 R, and cheeseburger something like.
Big Mac is, of course, more expensive -- 30-40 R, if my memory is right. "Royal De-Luxe" (or how its called) is 60.

Is this a bit expensive? I think, yes. But McDonalds are overcrowded anyway, especially on holidays.

For me that is an acceptable price. I work at a McDonalds. A hamburger is .95US or 25r and a cheeseburger is 1.10US or 31r

Even by American standards that is too much money to pay for a fried dog patty on 2 pieces of rubber bread topped off with a dab of catsup and a pickle.

Have they stopped 'super-sizing' meals in the US? There was all that moaning about making people fat and our newspapers were full of criticism of fast food chains encouraging obesity - as if people hadn't got a mind of their own. DFo they super-size meals in Moscow MDs

Yeah, people do have minds of their own (or did until about 50 years ago when their brains started softening into a grey pudding). And the advertiser's job is to cajole those minds. The whole point of a capitalist society in which all the primitive markets of necessities are already flooded is convincing people to buy a bunch of useless shit their "mind of their own" knows they don't really want or need. If it weren't that way we'd have almost no domestic economic growth. And I'm real sure if McDonald's hadn't had so many lawsuits filed against it in the past 5 years it would still be moving in the complete opposite direction that it had been going all this time, and we'd be hearing about some great new product called the 80oz. Coca-Cola Ultimate with fried ribs on a nacho cheese bun and, to save time chewing, strained french fries with an edible ketchup straw.

McDonald's promotes obesity due to one key fact...
The double cheeseburger (2 beef patties, 2 pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, 2 slices of cheese) is cheaper than the single cheeseburger (1 beef patty, 1 pickle, onions, ketchup, mustard, one slice of cheese) by 10 cents! And a single slice of cheese costs 30 cents!!!

Since you work in fast food maybe you can answer a question I always had: Why does it seem like they think you're giving them more work to do when you ask for things not to be included. If my friend asks for extra onions and lettuce on his burrito "no problem," but if I ask that they don't put onions on mine their reaction is like they have some medieval wooden burrito assembling contraption that takes six hours to reconfigure or something. They give me this little sigh of annoyance like I'm the worst asshole in the world for saving them one step. I'm starting to build up a complex here. WHY DO THEY GET MAD? EVERYBODY LIKES ME. ASK YOUR FRIENDS AND COWORKERS

It shouldn't be like that anymore. The sandwiches are 'assembled' after you order them. However, you can't modify burritos. They are just a jumble of pre-mixed crap thrown into a tortilla and microwaved. (eggs, green peppers, onions i think) And as for the getting mad, I couldn't possibly care less. I'm just the guy thats taking your money and giving your food after the apes in the back throw it together. Also... So the whole world knows... If you don't want to pay for your food, go to the drivethru when it's really busy. Order a double cheeseburger. Then, sit in the parking lot for about a minute, then storm into the lobby and tell them that you ordered whatever you want. (3 Big Macs, 2 Double Quarter Pounders with Cheese, a SuperSize Fry, whatever) And chances are the little acne-ridden halfling will get you what you want. (I do reccomend you don't do this often, or just do it with things like french fries and milkshakes to keep things uncomplicated.) I make $5.90 per hour. Do you think I could possibly care less about that hell-hole? Absolutely not!

An American who uses the expression in the original British way! The only way that makes sense! Pity you ruin it by answering your own rhetoric question.
