Why do you think it is a specific way?

1000: тысяча (Nom.Sg) рублей (Gen.Pl); с тысячей (Instr.Sg) рублей (Gen.Pl); без тысячи (Gen.Sg) рублей (Gen.Pl); дай мне тысячу (Acc.Sg) рублей (Gen.Pl)
2000: две (Nom.Fem.) тысячи (Gen.Sg) рублей (Gen.Pl); с двумя (Instr.) тысячами (Instr.Pl) рублей (Gen.Pl); без двух (Gen.) тысяч (Gen.Pl) рублей (Gen.Pl); дай мне две (Acc.Fem.) тысячи (Acc.Sg) рублей (Gen.Pl)

"тысячью": to me it is just a wrong form. The instrumental "тысячей" can be transformed to "тысячею" (as a more archaic or poetic version), but in no way it can become "тысячью". It just sounds as if someone mixed declension types: ночь -> ночью, but туча -> тучей (or тучею).

Well, I'm glad people use "тысячей" anyway.

It's just that I saw this form in some intermediate books where it was mentioned on a side.

That's why I kinda got confused with the inconsistency of it's use in some books - Aight - I'll stick to what you guys say then.

"тысячей" is the way to go.
