    Differences

What are the differences between, and how does one translate:
    необходимо
    нужно
    вынужден
    надо
    должен

And if possible, if you could give an example of when/when not to use them that would help quite a bit.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Differences

    My 2 cents as a non-native speaker:

Необходимый and вынужденный are adjectives describing situations, the former expresses necessity, the latter unavoidability with a negative twist, a situation which arises out of dire circumstances but cannot be avoided.

The other three words are used to express personal obligation, but you say я должен(а) with the obliged person as subject, whereas you say мне нужно / надо with the obliged person as an object in dative case, which I suppose shifts the focus of the obligation so that it comes to the person from the outside. Other than that I've been told that whether to use нужно or надо is a matter of personal preference.

That's not to be confused with мне нужен / нужна / нужно / нужны plus subject with the same gender and number as the form of нужен, which does not express obligation but need: мне нужна книга = I need a book (literally something like "a book is necessary to me").
    Спасибо за исправления!

    Re: Differences

Because it's may obligation.
    Thanks for correcting me.
