    "с удовольствием"

    Hello, everybody!

I'd like to ask if anyone happen to know what is the reason we say in Russian "с удовольствием" instead of "с удовольствия"? I mean: after the preposition "с" we are supposed to use the genitive case, in which the ending of a noun that is of neuter gender is -а/я (depending on whether the stem ends in a hard or a soft sound). If we followed this pattern, we would say "с удовольствия" (as "удовольствие" is a noun of neuter gender).

Thanks for your answers in advance.

    Steve

Mostly genitive case is used after the preposition "с" when a subject is leaving it's object: "Спуститься с горы", "Спрыгнуть с препятствия", "Сойти с ума". If you google for "с удовольствия" you will find no page where it's used.

    Re: "с удовольствием"

    roughly speaking:
    с + genitive = from
    c + instrumental = with

    "c удовольствием" means "with pleasure".
"c удовольствия" means "from pleasure" and I don't know in which sense it can be used.
"Россия для русских" - это неправильно. Остальные-то чем лучше?

    Re: "с удовольствием"

Thank you for the answers, now I can understand. I thought that this preposition can only be followed by the genitive case, but now it is clear that also the instrumental case can come after it.
    Thanks again.
