Это была огромная картонная коробка с надписью «рангхиров», полная запаянных в пластик гринов.

Их в радиусе досягаемости, так, чтобы он успел добежать до места и вернуться назад до того, как стрелка пересечёт отметку, было два: клуб финансовой молодёжи «Гайдар твейдер» и кафе «Мандавошка», где собирались представители элитарных богемных кругов.

рангхиров is sounds like someone name, грины=dollars (slang), Гайдар=name of politican in early 90-th, твейдер=??? (may be trader?)

2. Грины - доллары, зеленые, баксы.

Рангхиров - there's no such word. Probably a name.
Грины - from green(s) (dollars are green)
Гайдар твейдер (probably Gaidar's trader) (a typo)
Мандавошка - Phthirus pubis (bugs in the rug, crab louse)

Бомодновошка - игра слов Бомонд (beau-monde) + то самое

Rank Херов (видимо от названия фирмы Rank Xerox - a copying machine manufacturer. It was the only shipper of copiers to the USSR so its name became an appellative. Until now a copier is called xerox "ксерокс" regardless of its real manufacturer. There are derivates from this word also like "ксерить" - a verb means to make copies on a copy machine or "отксеренный" - a copied document).

Офф. Жуткое слово ксерить. Есть же нормальный вариант - ксерокопировать.

"Ксерить" - нормальное слово. А "ксерокопировать" для меня звучит так же напыщенно, как "электронно-вычислительная машина".

Доходит до смешного. В рекламе можно встретить "ксероксы Canon"
Правильнее и корректнее, всё таки говорить светокопия вместо ксерокопии.
Светокопировать или просто копировать вместо ксерить или ксерокопировать.

Так правильнее или корректнее? Доходит до смешного...

Мне нравится слово "ксерить". Его обычно и использую.

У нас все так говорят.

Слово "ксерокс" (а также производные от него слова) - используется как имя нарицательное не только в русском языке, хотя здесь не все гладко.
