My sentence "Потому что изначально обсуждается две фразы" was correct. "Потому что" doesn't need a comma between потому and что (although the both variants are correct):

From the link above it is not obvious which one should be used here. However, the link http://www.gramma.ru/RUS/?id=13.31 provides an explanation:

"Можно написать Она ему нравилась, потому что была очень красива (акцент на результат) или Она ему нравилась потому, что была очень красива (акцент на причину). "

From the overall context: "
- Конечно, естественнее звучит "Отстань, я читаю детские книжки!" (слово "книги" то зачем выбросила?)
- Потому что изначально обсуждается две фразы. "

It it apparent that "изначально обсуждается две фразы" is a reason therefore the presence of the comma is mandatory.

Обсуждается and обсуждаются both are correct:

The best though is "обсуждались" because of the past tense which is evident from "изначально" and also from "выбросила."

Crocodile, the comma is not mandatory here, it is optional.

It's not "best". I meant that the point was still discussed.
Изначально = с самого начала.

My point was "С самого начала обсуждается (и продолжает обсуждаться)..."
As for "выбросила", what does it have to do with the tense in my answer?
- Почему ты выбросила из статьи все предложения, в которых упоминается этот актер?
- Потому что я его терпеть не могу. (интересно, из каких таких "грамматических" соображений я должна тут ответить "я его терпеть не могла"?)
