"Еще" can be "still", "yet" and "more" (as you mention). You can think of it as it means that "something still lasts, still is being added". This "something" can be things we are talking about:
- Еще не перевелись богатыри (Heroes did not exctinct yet) (it seems to me now, there should be negation for this case)
- Он дал еще денег (He give more money)
Or this "something" can be dialog itself:
- Еще я люблю мороженное ((Also/in addition to previous speech/to say more) I love icecream) (It is more clear if you put "еще" in first place)
You should pay attention to context.

2. No. They are different words (with and without spaces), but because their meaning is derived directly from compound words it is common error to make such mistakes even by native speakers.
