Is this a derogatory word? I couldn't find much information other than its association with "pancake."
EDIT: Oh, and I think it's spelled блина.

I believe that блин is a euphemism that means something like "darn!"
I would second that -- it's like "darn," "shoot," "crap," or any number of other such words that express suprise or frustration -- and it's not really vulgar -- it's the kind of thing you'd say in front of mom. :wink:Quote:

If it is a euphemism, is there a particular ruder word it comes from?
Sure, it's 6ля.
nice one netsurfer, I didn't even notice the 6 for a second!
Neither did I.... :P
Can't find this in my dictionary but I did find 6л*дь.Quote:

I think 6ля is more common.
We say it another way жизнь дерьмо (or говно).Quote:

Are "дерьмо" and "говно" simply synonyms or do they tend to be used differently? Is one encountered more frequently? And finally, the stress lies like this, right: дерьмо and говно?Quote:

I think that дерьмо is ruder......
Good thread!!! I like it!!!
Hmm, lets see what other people say...Quote:

Sure. Personally I can say дерьмо in public like at the office for instance but I avoid saying говно in public places.
Is the word совокупляться considered rude?
No, it's considered technical like copulate.
Go copulate yourself!
COPULATE YOU!Quote:
Go copulate yourself!
What is the rude alternative? Is it трахать?
Shut the copulate up! :D
Let's see what an obnoxious fella like myself thinks.Quote:

Sorry for transliteration, I see no other way to convey the message
Crepe and sheet?Quote:

трахать is rude too, but less. but anyway, you can`t say, for example, your girlfried "давай трахнемся", it would sound VERY rude!!!
Why do you think so? They both are taboo words. What's the difference?Quote:

What would you say to you girlfriend?
Давай заниматься любовью?
At first, e*ать is much ruder that f*ck.Quote:

Where are you from? Cuz I`m from Russia... And, believe me, I know what is considered to be rude here
Hmm, some of the women I know love it when I talk dirty to them while we're on the job :-)Quote:

Yeah, it's fine but it's rude! Your girlfriend might be offended if you suddenly say so! :!:
Do belive that those words are rude.
But still, I think that Russian equivalent for f*ck is much ruder and I'll explain why.
Have you ever seen anybody of Russian celebrities to use that sort of things on the TV? Of course, you haven't!
F*ck is almost acceptable on the USA's television so, I think, it sounds much calmer=)
And there're even many variations of f*ck that give you a completely different meaning that has nothing to do with f*ck itself.
fucking good
motherfucker
