Also, the English set phrase "it serves you/them/him etc right" is ""так тебе/им/ему etc и надо" in Russian

Negative - Так и надо : you are to blame - why removing pronoun? is it for the purpose of the song?

Negative - так тебе и надо : it serves you right (similar meaning)

Positive ? Так и надо идти : Way to go! Or is it patronizing? like this is the way to go son, you don't have a choice.

Could I also use any other verbs like Так и надо говорить Так и надо влюбоваться Так и надо водить машину

Так и надо ... - это вообще, идёт для всех. По-моему, чаще говорят: Вот так и надо ... . Используется в положительном контексте.
Вот так и надо поступать/действовать в таких случаях.
Вот так надо любить!, или Вот как надо любить!
Вот так надо водить машину!, или Вот как надо водить машину!

Когда добавляют местоимение, выражение становится негативным.
Так тебе/вам/им и надо. = Вот так тебе/вам/им и надо. Нечего быть таким жадным/такими жадными! = You/they've deserved it, don't be so greedy.

Basically так и надо means "this is the way it should be". So when somebody says that something negative happened to them and you reply "this is the way it should be'' I think it's easy to see why does it mean "it serves you right"

But you can expand on the meaning of these words by adding a verb after them. For example:

Так и надо жить - this is the way one should live
Так и надо говорить - this is the way one should speak

And plenty of other verbs. I think just about any word
