    turtle versus tortoise

In English there are two different words for turtle and tortoise, but as far as I can tell there is only one word for both in Russia: черепаха. So, what do Russians say when they want to make it clear that they are talking about one and not the other. For instance, how would be following sentence translate into Russian:

There are many differences between turtles and tortoises.
