I don't know how long/how far he was walking yesterday

I don't know where he was walking yesterday
as in: я ходил в городе (I was walking in the town (not TO town))

    this one is thougher...

It works, beleive me . Maybe I can't give correct translations, but I'll try.

I don't know where he was walking yesterday.

I don't know how much time he was walking yesterday

As for "что", if there was no "не", it would be
    and it's absolutely correct.

pranki is right. All the four variants are correct. I'll try to shed some light on it.

=I don't know where he went yesterday.

=I don't know that he went (somewhere) yesterday.

=I don't know where (=to what place) he went yesterday.

The answer to this sentence could be:
Он ходил вчера по полу = He went on the floor yesterday.
He wandered around downtown Moscow yesterday.

=I don't know how much time he spent walking yesterday.

Is it clear now? All of these sentences are grammatically correct but that doesn't mean that they're natural.

I think all of them are natural except for the second one.

how long have you been studying Russian? Perhaps, you mentioned it in your previous posts but I don't remember now.

About 7 months of hard-out study. I have however, always known the alphabet and the basics "здравствуйте, как тебя зовут etc" because my mum speaks some Russian so i guess it wasn't as out there for me when I first starting studying seriously as for others, but hey i'm pretty pleased with my progress thus far!

That's very good that you can answer 42 questions correctly after 7 months of studying! I applaud you!

    Re: Some online tests

31 out of 50. Well I'm happy with this score as the last 15 questions I could not really answer

Where are the answers? I want to learn on my mistakes
