Thread: Past and Instrumental

I was wondering if when you were using был(а) you would always use the instrumental case because I learned that you would use it when you were discussing a past profession, but I've seen times where it hasn't been used and has been used in various contexts. Could someone please help me out with this? Спасибо Большое

For a future works only instrumental case imho.
