Thread: Nominative plural of neuter nouns

I have read in a grammar book that neuter nouns ending in -же, -ше, -ще, -че, -це in the singular take the ending -а in the plural. Anyone could write some examples? What about with neuter nouns ending in -ге, -ке, -хе (if exists)? Some examples please?

Examples:
убежище --> убежища
стрельбище --> стрельбища
полотенце --> полотенца

There's no Russian words ending with -ге, -ке, -хе. Only some loan words which don't follow the rule, as a rule.

капище - капища
чудище - чудища
коленце - коленца

That's what i can think of now.

Ah, and this one: у**ище - у**ища. Alright, forget this word. It's obscene, and just a bad example propping the rule of your textbook.

Also remember that the stress usually moves.

Words ending with -ге, -ке, -хе could only be loanwords (караоке/караокэ). These types of words will not change, even some words with normal ending like какао, пальто, кофе, плато stay unchanged.

And they only end in e cos they are in the prepositional case.
