Never heard of a Jitney before. Sounds like one of those names American's make up for there kids. Jitney Joe.
Anyway, in Br.Eng:
A bus - one of the things in the picutre below, that's goes round a set route, on a schedule, form of mass public transport. Like one of these. But this is a double decker bus. They are usually local, and take you around your town or city.

A coach is what Americans also call a bus, but to Brittishers, they are NOT the same. Firstly they tend to do long distances and you book your ticket in advance. Like you take coach tours to Europe. They are more luxurious, have nicer seats, TVs and toilets usually. This is one below. As I'm aware an American will also call this a bus.

A taxi can be 2 things. The first is a "black cab" which are the distinctive odd shaped things. In central London where I live, especially around the shopping areas and tourist places, sometimes the only things you see on the road are fucking black cabs.

Theses drive around and you put your hand out to stop them, or shout "Taxi", I don't know why because the drivers can never hear you.
The second type is a minicab, which you call up in advance, then they drive out specially to pick you up. They are cheaper than "black cabs" and are just normal cars. People tend to use them for longer distances.

A tram is what Americans call a trolleybus, or at least some do, something which I found out after me and my American boyfriend almost split up over an arguement defining what a tram is. You see this alot in Europe and Russia Трамвай . We have them in the UK too. Here's a nice tram in Prague:

A trolleybus is like a normal bus, but it is powered by over head cables and therefore can only stick to a certain route. Same as a Russian Троллейбус (sp?):

I don't like them, since you get all those unsightly cables everywhere.
