    Irregular verbs

    Hi!

I'm looking for a list of the irregular verbs in russian, but so far I found nothing.
    Does anyone have it?

Какая разница, умереть богатым или бедным?

Какой толк от богатства если ты не счастлив.

Well there are quirks, that could be taken as irregular verbs. For example if a 'з' ends a verb's stem, it changes to 'ж' and the stress shifts to the 'у' in first person. '-овать' and 'евать' verbs don't techincaly decline regularly, but all verbs ending like that decline the same. So it depends what you consider to be irregular.

There are hundreds of irregular verbs (I would guess 200+).
Maybe there are more irregular verbs than regular verbs.
The most common irregularity is a stem change of sorts.
'д' changes to 'ж' in first person e.g. ходить
    'с' becomes a 'ш' e.g. писать
or a syllable is added or dropped etc.
There is a nice explanation here
    http://masterrussian.com/blverbs.shtml

I do not know where to find a full listing of irregular verbs but I hear that "501 Russian Verbs" is a good book.

Personally, I just learn verbs as I need them.

Kinda off topic, but how do you conjugate verbs that end in -нуть and -ыть?

    вернуть - to return
It is a regular verb of first conjuction.

верну (Будущее время 1 лицо единственное число)
    вернёшь (Будущее время 2 лицо)
    вернёт (Будущее время 3 лицо)
вернём (Будущее время 1 лицо множественное число)
вернёте (Будущее время 2 лицо множественное число)
вернут (Будущее время 3 лицо множественное число)

Conjugation charts can be found here:
    http://www.multitran.ru/c/m.exe?a=ShowM ... =16168_2_1

I need an example of a verb ending in -ыть and I will look it up.

    забыть

    я забуду
    ты забудешь
    он забудет
    мы забудем
    вы забудете
    они забудут

Another Irregular ending is "-стать", be it by itself or on the end of a word.

    перестать

    перестану
    перестанешь
    перестанет
    перестанем
    перестанете
    перестанут

I typed "forget" into Multitran and one of the results was "забудь".
The conjugation chart for "забудь" is the same as "забыть".
"забудь" has a regular conjugation with the stem "забуд-".
I guess that "забыть" was derived from "забудь" which explaines the stem change.
