    I remember, back in college, when I almost wanted to cry while trying to learn (and not to confuse) the conjugations of ложиться/лечь, класть/положить, and лежать (and also not to confuse the present tense of лежать and лгать). So it makes me feel better to know that some Russians (but maybe not educated Muscovites) think that the несовершенный вид of "положить" is "ложить", instead of "класть"!

    "Ложить" is ubiquitous. Hardly anybody would notice if you used it.
    For "покласть", however, you may be seriously made fun of.
