    Grammar vocab

When I go back to university this year all my grammar classes are going to be in Russian, so unless I learn all the vocab like 'noun', 'adjective', 'past participle', 'dative case', 'genitive case', 'plural noun', 'passive voice' etc...

So can people give me some help to find these kinds of words please!

You can find these in any dictionary, for example here: http://slovari.yandex.ru/
    noun - существительное
    adjective - прилагательное
past participle - причастие прошедшего времени
    dative case - дательный падеж
    genitive case - родительный падеж
plural noun - существительное множественного числа
passive voice - пассивный (страдательный) залог

Thanks. Yeah I know, I have found some of them in the dictionary, but I often find that the words aren't the ones that are actually used. Can people help me find other grammar vocab like this that I am going to have to know

In this case you have nothing to worry about. Those are the ones that are actually used.

What dictionary do you use? I'm sure ABBYY Lingvo (and its online version which I've mentioned) translates the terms correctly.
If you doubt about the translation, write it here, we'll correct it if it's wrong.

It's the Oxford dictionary, I haven't found any of the grammar terms to be wrong yet, but thats because I have no way to know if they are right.

Thanks, if I have any doubts I will check with you.

ah...our lecturer this year never spoke about the different tenses like that, she simply told us about the future past and present. Would I be right in saying that the future perfect tense is the future of the perfective aspect and the future tense is the future of the imperfective aspect oris there some more to it than that?

    Thanks for the vocab

Я буду играть - Imperfective future
    Я сыграю - Perfective future.

To play (imp. / perf. ) = играть / сыграть

That's correct. In Russian aspect is almost orthogonal (independent) to the tense, except that perfective aspect cannot be used in present tense.

Wiki has quite an extensive article about aspect (imperfective and perfective):

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammatical_aspect

Although Russian isn't mentioned specifically, the information on Polish is pretty much the same as for Russian.

Your grasp of English doesn't seem that impressive, to be honest.

Pointing out to a Scotsman that he isn't English is hardly an insult, treacle
