I think, Valda asks about "чувствовать" without "себя".
When this verb is used without "себя", there must be a direct object (to feel SOMETHING). And the direct object takes Accusative as usual:
Я чувствую холод. = I feel some cold.
= I feel some warmth.
= I feel some thirst (= I am thirsty).
= I feel your hand.
It is used when speaking about any kind of physical or emotional feelings.
Also:
= I feel a smell (of something). = I smell (something).
= I feel a taste (of something). = I taste (something).
Note: Russian does not have special verbs for "to smell" and "to taste", so we use "чувствовать запах" and "чувствовать вкус" instead.
But it can take Instrumental when you specify "with WHAT you feel something":
Я это чувствую сердцем. = I feel it with my heart.
= I feel some object with my fingers.
