I have been teaching English for awhile and have come accross many lists of the first 1000 words you should learn for converstational fluency. I was wondering if there are any lists for Russian?

Отлично! That's a great list. Glad to say that I have at least 90% of that list in my active vocabulary. How about another 1000?

We'll add more up to 5000 common words. For now, try 500 common verbs and 500 common nouns.
Some words on these lists go beyond 1000 most common words.

Not exactly a frequency list, but a nice list that can help boost your vocab fairly quickly. These are Russian words that are found in English. Think of them the other way around and some of them will be useful. Have a look http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...Russian_origin

To the original poster:
It's Far better to learn a list of top 1000 PHRASES. People don't speak with words much. They speak with phrases. Learning "и" "он" "на" ...uh, that's not all that helpful.
Thanks for the link to that great website!^^ It looks very useful!Originally Posted by MasterAdmin
