I have few Finance Questions.
1. If I want to say that the interest rate is 5.75% what I will say in russian:
(a) процентная ставка пять точка семьдесят пять ? либо (b)процентная ставка пять Запятая семьдесят пять ?
2.Also in Russian you don't have a shorter work for "процентная ставка". In English we just say "return" or "rate".
3. How we say: "I rent a house".
4. The Current Account of Bank in russian is called: "текущий счет"?

1. 5.75 = пять целых семьдесят пять сотых
2. "unofficially", one can say just "ставка"
3. Я арендую дом или Я взял дом в аренду
4. Indeed, a term "текущий счет" exists, but let the experts confirm that it's appropriate here
I don't want to sound "необразованный" but there is not any unofficial simple way to say the 5.75% in Russian because as I understand the "пять целых семьдесят пять сотых" is the correct but more complicated form.
пять целых семьдесят пять сотых is the correct and formal way, that's how they teach you to say that in school.
However, we usually say...
Пять и семьдесят пять.
Пять (a little pause) семьдесят пять.
Because that's simplier
1. 5.75 да, просто пять семьдесят пять
2. процент/ы, например
3. Я бы сказал снимаю

Все таки в большинстве случаев, вероятно, стоит уточнять какие доли.
5,12 - пять и двенадцать сотых.
10,009 - десять и девять тысячных.
При этом пять семьдесят пять для меня звучит нормально

Yes, it sounds a bit formal, like in a text-book.
Some colloquial examples:
0.05 = пять сотых карата
0.10 = одна десятая карата
0.55 = пятьдесят пять сотых карата
1.35 = один и тридцать пять сотых карата (some say just "один [pause] тридцать пять", but I don't recommend to say like that, because you can confuse your clients).
My only question why for the word карат we used единственное число родительный падеж: карата
All fractions are always used with genitive singular: половина текста, полдня, треть часа etc. Also полтора доллара.Quote:

a lot of people = много людей (genitive)
We use genitive even if it's not specified directly:
a few cars = несколько машин/автомобилей (genitive)
We used "единственное число родительного падежа" because a fractional part is always less than one, it's like a part of the entire number (do you see "of"? Ok, use genitive!). So we decline "карат" implying the fractional part of the number, because it's the last part of the sentence.

Being able to count and do arithmetic is one of the hardest things to do in a foreign language. But it's a bit easier in Russian because you have to use arithmetic to tell the time без двенадцати час, пять минут восьмого and so on.Quote:

Also IDK if everybody knows, Russians live on 24 hour time unlike Americans living on 12 hour time and AM, PM, so it would be common for a Russian to say семнадцать часов for 5PM. However when you use без десяти час construction you need to use 12 hour time only, and say, for example без пятнадцати пять which could mean both 4:45AM and 4:45PM, depending on the context/time of usage
It depends. For me "без двенадцати час" is quite OK. I can say it like this by myself.
I do not like neglecting precision when it comes to time :) If someone stops me in the street to ask about the time, and I see 12:48 on my watch, I will definitely say "без двенадцати час" (as I use a mechanic watch). If I used an electronic watch, then I would say "двенадцать - сорок восемь".
If I would have a mechanical watch I would just say без десяти час, I doubt that I would be able to fight my laziness and reckon exact number of minutes at the moment :)Quote:

Another question is which gender to use when you have to deal with 1 or 2, e.g. talking about 0.025 versus 0.025%.
