Can u Explain me about Russian Nouns

I want to know about the three types of nouns in russian...those are,

    masculine
    feminine
    neuter

i also want to know how to assess the gender of the noun... by looking at the last letter of the noun...

    thanks..Ahmed Sujau

Re: Can u Explain me about Russian Nouns

    The basics are:

Look at the simple form of the noun (sing., Nominative case).
masculine -> if it ends in a hard consonant, or “й” (Eg.: рот, стол, прибой)
feminine -> if it ends in “а” or “я” (Eg.: ложка, корова, семья)
neuter -> if it ends in “о” or “е” (Eg.: дерево, мыло, солнце)

But be aware that there are a few additional rules and a LOAD of exceptions, so this table is not 100% safe.

PS. I'll probably write down them later, don't have enough time now.

Дверь, дрель, сирень, дребедень - feminine
    Перстень, конь, огонь - masculine
So you can only refer to a dictionary and remember. The best way to remember the gender of a noun is to associate it with an adjective: жидкий лебедь, весёлая вонь.
