Both are good, but I like неистовый better. Бурный sounds more bookish, and calmly while неистовый more lively and even a little humorous.

To be pedantic, the difference between смех и хохот is in the fact that when you hear хохот you can hear the voice of the person (that is why it is louder than смех). The English language does not consider the difference as far as I know. Laugh already implies the sound of voice giggle - definition of giggle by Macmillan Dictionary. The pedant thinks бурный смех и неистовый смех to be absurd, because no one exepct you can possibly hear your violent or furious смех. But the majority of Russians do not seem to care about the difference and the pedant's opinion since the two expressions are frequently used.

kib to be pedantic you can't unvoice either a смех or a хохот because they will sound like whisper.
Also неистовый can mean two things, I'll demonstrate them using sample phrases:
Неистовый ветер
Неистовая атака
I can't think of a case when I would say "неистовый хохот" or "неистовый смех".

"Здоровый смех" -- sincere loud laughter; laughter without reservation.
There is "искренний смех", which is similar but not necessarily particularly loud.
"Бурный смех" is also similar, with a degree of uncontrollability.
"Неистовый смех" has a manic quality to it. When it's too manic then it's just that -- "маниакальный смех".
Groups of male teenagers have a knack of producing this particular kind of overenthusiastic "здоровый смех" that is sometimes referred to as "гогот".
