    того

    zavist'.jpg

Сначала я хотел бы упомянуть что моя проблема относительно этого перевода это использование слова "того".
The text on which this russian text is based is: "Positive Envy. This is when you desire to be on the position of whom she is thinking about". Based on this translation того should be кого, because the first means "that" the second means "whom". The translation with the word "that" does not make sense. Correct?
    Пожалуйста помогите мне.

на месте того (человека) о ком она думает
In English it is: that person (who) she is thinking about.

In Russian we can skip word "person". But in English we can't. So we have to use "that person" or "whom".
But in English we can skip "who"/"кто", because we already have "person".

Dmitry can you provide the translation of the expression: "The freedoms/rights of a person shouldn't affect the freedoms/rights of others" or any other example with "togo" in order to understand better this omission of person?

Мне не хватает только тех (людей), кто сейчас сидят на складе.
I need only those (people) who are sitting at the warehouse.

У меня нет того (той вещи), что сейчас лежит наверху.
I have no that thing, that is laying at the top.

in Russian we can use "that" for description as that/this.
And we can use it for replacement of person (looks like skipping of a word "person". that person = that. "That" here have inherited meaning of a person).

So in "на месте того, о ком она". Того means "person", not a description like that/this. "на месте человека", какого человека? (who/that she is thinking about). Kinda "at the place of that person, that she is thinking about". First that is того and second is кого/о ком.

P.S. I know my explanation is awkward, sorry. ) Not sure, you can understand something from it.

I understood many things. For example in the first two examples I understand that "tex/togo" can replace both living (liudi) and non-living (veshi) and with the insertion of kto/chto we can understand the meaning (whether it refers to a living or a non-living).
    Thank you.
