    Сожгли

    Привет.

I'm reading a Russian book for beginners (these kind of books which are adapted) and I have a little vocabulary problem in this sentence:

Я бегу, потому что не хочу, чтобы её тоже сожгли на площади, да и меня вместе с ней

What does cожгли mean? I can't understand the full meaning of the sentece because of this verb.

    Спасибо!

past of "сжечь", which is a perfective form of "жечь" (to burn).
So, it means "...I don't want her to be burnt..."

сожгли is the past, third person, plural from сжечь, сжигать

Here it means the subjunctive (the past + "бы")
In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

    Conjugation? Which conjugation?..
    Maybe you mean this:

Я не хочу, чтобы её сожгли = I don't want her to be burnt
Я не хочу, чтобы его сожгли = I don't want him to be burnt

"Сожгли" is not masculine or feminine, it's plural (they): "I don't want they to burn her..."

The simplest way to translate "да и меня" is "and me too."

Не пугайся, но "да" здесь употреблено в значении "и", а "и" - в значении усилительной частицы...

    А может, и наоборот.

    Да.
Точнее, "да и" говорит о том, что "меня" могут сжечь "заодно", за компанию.
