Вчера был очень насыщенный событиями день, поэтому отложил закат на сегодня, для баланса.


I followed the facebook post of Crimean Bridge. Here I don't quite understand the sentence.
My understanding: Yesterday was a day full of events/accidents, therefore, the sunset is postponed to today for balance.

Do I translate it correctly?
If I translate it correctly, I don't understand why it is "postponed to today for balance". Why not did it yesterday to offset the sadness immediately but today?
