How will be translated:

I know that predstavlyat' soboi means imagine.

представляет собой... is literally "shows/represents itself... in a particular way"

But you usually can just use the verb "to be" as a translation for the phrase

"to imagine" = представлять себе
представлять собой = "to be" (as was mentioned) or "to be a particular representation of"
