so i was wondering how to translate accurately the process of muscle building.
i suppose something short and concise like: the muscles get broken down and repair themselves.
brake down and repair in this context causes problems.

I don't quite follow what do you mean by "the muscles get broken down and repair themselves". Does this mean they are out of shape and some extra training is necessary?

Мускулы получают микротравмы, восстановление мышц сопровождается их ростом.

Если это кому-то важно. "Качаться" - потому что человек, который этим занимается, делает циклические движения, примерно такие же движения делает человек, который качает ручным насосом (водяным или воздушным, не важно).

"Качаться" - because bodybuilder is simular to the man that pump by a manual pump.
