It means expression, like "d@mn!", "sh#t!" or so... I think it appeared first like censored version of "Бл#". (там на конце должна быть "я")
Please, correct my mistakes, except for the cases I misspell something on purpose!

Well, I wouldn't be so critical. I think that Basil77 is right in saying that блин can be used as a substitute for expressions like дамн, щит (looks cool!!)) etc. but you're right - though partly. To be honest, I couldn't fathom what you meant by 'shoot' for some time. I even had to consult an English dictionary to discover that 'shoot' means 'sh*it' in American English.
