Translate EN-RU: keep out of reach of children

    Hi everybody,

I would like some help getting a sentence translated in Russian. Someone is gonna use it as a tattoo, so I dont have to explain that its crucial its translated perfectly.

    The sentence is:
"KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN".

Its a sentence that can also be found on bottles of toxic chemicals for example.

    Thanks in advance

The exact phrase written on toxic stuff in Russian is literally "keep in the places unreachable for children" Is it okay for your tatoo or it will not make sense? If it is, then
ХРАНИТЬ В МЕСТАХ, НЕДОСТУПНЫХ ДЛЯ ДЕТЕЙ

If no, I would suggest a funnier phrase that means the same (Literally: don't give this to children")
    ДЕТЯМ В РУКИ НЕ ДАВАТЬ

    or simply
    БЕРЕЧЬ ОТ ДЕТЕЙ
    (keep from children)

I would also suggest to wait till somebody else suggest some other variants. Besides, what is as crucial as a proper translation, is that your Cyrillic encoding is correct and you see the Cyrillic characters above right.

Thanks Indra for your quick reply.

Its not for my own tattoo, so I'll ask my friend what he thinks.

And you're right about a second opinion; probably best to wait for some more feedback before running to a tattoo parlor

The Cyrillic characters look fine btw.

Well "Keep away/out of reach from children" is more of a standard thing written on such signs, adding the "far away" part would start to drift away from the sentence in question and that would make the translation further away from the closest version.
Please correct any Russian language mistakes I make.

I just talked to my friend and he likes:

    "Keep away from children"

Above, people translated Keep far away from children and keep from children, but not "Keep away from children".

Why does he want such a tatoo? Does he molest russian children or what?

bobbby: Don't expect a direct translation. The best your going to get is something that captures the essence of the meaning "Keep away from children".

Я не знаю точно, где будет эта татуировка, но подозреваю по логике, что вся фраза в длину не поместится. Влезет только
    "ДЛЯ ДЕТЕЙ" или
    "НЕ ДАВАТЬ" или
    "БЕРЕЧЬ"

    Not that I know of
He's got a whole theme going of stuff found on products: barcode, expiration date, trashcan... He’s also thinking of a "flammable" warning sign. But he doesn’t want it to be too obvious so he chose Russian.

I think the best variant is
    БЕРЕЧЬ ОТ ДЕТЕЙ

Yes, it's the most standard variant.

    Is that a bad thing?
