Because you don't need С when the meaning or instrument is obvious.

Like if i said i was going to kill you with a hammer, i'd just say я тебя убью молотоком.

The instrumental case ending is enough, you dont need the 'с'.

kill somebody with something = убить кого-то чем-то
or убить кого-то с помощью чего-то

kill you with beer = убить тебя пивом
or убить тебя с помощью пива

they both have the same meaning but the first one is more common.
