There was an interesting article about this in last month's American Heritage magazine. Seems pizza was food that was only eaten by the dirt poor in Italy (where it IS from) -- it was actually humiliating to have to eat it. And then it showed up in America and be came a huge hit and pizza industry exploded.

Well you may aswell add these to your list.

"Cordial", as in the common household drink made of syrup plus water ........I think is translated as фруктОвый напИток

Пельмени = Pelmini

Ижевск Seems to think it is 'their' dish...
I made some once, not certain how they turned out, but I'll stick with frozen ravioli for now.
