    Russian song

Has anybody hear ever listened to Олеуг Газманов - Туман, I am just starting out leaning Russian as I stated in the General Forum section. It sounds as if in the beginning he is on his back looking at the clouds. I think he says that the clouds look like horses or he sees horses moving over him and then something about he sees blood (I think) pouring out of him and towords the end he is not sure if it is a dream or real. Does this song have to deal with a war or what?

If possible would somebody explain this song to me? Initially what drew me to it was the guitar, very enjoyable to the ear. Anyway, input from people here would be much appreciated.

He's concerned about his spelling to the point of apology...I like it! Well, my approval rating of Alaskan has soared. You've won my support. Most people these days never pay attention to anything, and I do hate it. You're doing much better than the many users who write something like this:

hye Guyzzz im hear plz Teech me russina plz plz plz plz !! 11 ! thx thx

A tip: You can always use the "Edit" button if you see mistakes in your posts.

I found the lyrics and chords to that song, and I'll help translate them for you later(or someone else can). Do you play the guitar?

    Em___Am__Hm
    Am_____Hm_Em
    ________Туман

EDIT: Ignore the underscores between chords, the bothersome thing didn't keep the spacing correctly so I had to do it by hand. Enjoy.

Thank you for the edit function noted and filed! I too get annoyed with people who take language and basically abuse it. Unfortunately, in language it is easy for people to become lazy because others allow it. Bad habits build on themselves and eventually, you end up with something that has degraded to a point where it no longer serves the purpose it was intended for. I often wont reply to a post of that type. As Rude as it may sound, it’s not that hard to correct your own mistakes. with all the word editing devices out there it is very easy to type a document and copy/paste it to the forum, rather than projecting the appearance of ‘" just don’t care”

As for the cords and words I cannot thank you enough for this. Yes I play guitar AND will feverishly work on this. I thought it to be too much to ask for that, but eventually I wanted to learn how to play this. Just so happened to be sooner rather than later!

By the way, I am surprised that as a beginner you were able to catch so much of the song(you were more or less correct in what you got out of it). I congratulate you! How long exactly have you been studying and what with?

Also, where'd you hear this song? Is it on MP3 somewhere? I'd like to listen to it too. I'm a (complete) beginner at guitar myself, but I do know some chords and I'd like to try playing along.

I have been actively studying Russian for about 2 months, passively for about a year if that makes sense. As for studying, I actually spend my day listening to Russian Radio even at work (office with a door is great) I found immersing myself with the language helps in recognizing words even if you don’t know the meaning. My g/f and her 6 sisters are always speaking Russian around me so that is a tremendous help. While I do not understand the meaning of every word they are floating around in my head and with the addition of music, my retention, is from what I can see very well. I have used some kids schoolbooks and followed very basic exercises, while my girl friend coaches me along. Learning how to write, saying the words and the meaning is great too I have found. It kind of grows from there, you understand a little bit and you use that to understand more and more.

As for the song, my girlfriend is on the way over and she can read this to me. I just got my CD and took a stab at it so that makes me feel good I was at least in the ball park of what was going on.

I have the CD and can send it to you the song in a MP3 format, just tell me how I should go about doing so. It is a wonderful sounding song! Make sure those finger nails are cut and you ready for calluses on your finger tips “)

All these lucky people with their russian girlfriends.

    что лучше всех на свете
What does this mean ? i mean... i know what it says, but does it have a meaning DEEPER than the words ? i have heard this, in about 50 russian songs. I think that свет, can also mean world, as well as light. But i don't know which it means in this case. Anyways, my favorite example of this usage is in the russkiy razmer song Было и прошло! Where he says, "Было и прошло, как всё хорошее на свете." Anyways, what does this mean ?
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!

Are you referring to Русский Размзр? I have listened to them before, their song Мегаьайт Снов confused me. The literal translation as near as I can tell is ‘megabyte dream’, now that makes no sense to me at all.

Another song was, Meня Кольасит which roughly translates to “my sausage” (or something like that). I was told that was slang for “I’m going crazy” can anybody help with those as well?

Close. the ов ending on сн, signifies it is genitive plural. So from сон to снов = megabites of dreams. The song is about too people who are in love, and are away from each other, and the only way they can communicate is on the internet, hence megabites. I'm sure you you red the lyrics again you'll see the song does make sense.

Meня Кольасит which roughly translates to “my sausage”
suasage, or kilbasa, in russian is килбаза. Кольасит is a verb =). It means "i'm pissed off", well, at least how he uses it in this song. He has a friend who brings his ugly girlfriend to his house everyday, and they mess up his place. i would be mad too.

You seem to have only heard their newer songs... where did you get the cd from ? because the only way i know was to buy it, since they have not uploaded their latest CD onto their website yet.

Well, look at the time 3:50 AM. And i was just bored, so i figured i would type up the first few lines of Мегаьайти Снов, just incase you are still confused about anything .

    Там, где кончается земля,
    И день горит и тает.
    Я умираю без тебя,
    И сам не замечаю.
    Мир телефонных проводов
    Конец, соединений
    Свет. наших самых важных слов
    В момент, в момент падения.
    Мегабайты снов про любовь...

As you can see, it makes perfect sense... I think the words speak for themselves :P .

    )))
No, guys! Меня колбасит means something like "I feel bad, sick" or "I'm thrilled, i'm waring" but not "my sausage" )

sausage - колбаса, но не килбаса.
Sometimes "меня колбасит" can have a meaning "im pissed of" but more often it's "sick or thrilled or worried"

"Всё на свете" means "everything in the world" ; sometimes may be even Universe.

объехать вокруг света — to go round the world
предвещающий конец света — apocalyptic, apocalyptical
части света — parts of the world
страны света — the cardinal points, cardinals
весь свет — the whole world
по всему свету — all over the world

отправляться на тот свет — to go to the next world, to go to a better world, to leave / depart this world, to depart to the better world, to give up the ghost

ни за что на свете! — not for the world!

It also can have a meaning "society"
society, high life - высший свет

May be she sings about heк personal world, but expressions весь мир and весь свет have some difference

I'm inclined to think мир is that part of the свет where human is ))
    Like ... Earth ))
and the other meaning of мир is peace.
    try to understand "миру мир"
It means Peace to the World !

Thanks for the explanations on my two points. On most of this stuff I know what the literal translation is. What I need help with is the meaning behind these terms – which you guys have done. Much like the British say, “oh bloody hell” – when they get pissed off. I’m sure for foreigners, they need to be told what it means to understand the context of the words.

Dogboy182 – The CD I am referring to has been out for a while. If you would like to listen to a few I have some mp3’s, just let me know.

against a background can be heard some Slavonic language, sounds like Ukranian, anyway, it's understandable ... pretty interesting track

I'd like to hear a couple tracks from that CD as well, if it's possible. I also would like to know what cord in English music is the equivalent of H or H7.

For whatever reason the Europeans use this system:

    H = B
    H7=B7
    B = Bb

Ahhhh.....that makes the song much harder for me to play, since I haven't got around to learning the B chords yet. But thank you for the "translation".
