Thread: quote translation please...

need to translate this quote in the Russian equivalent of the idiom expression 'it was staring you in the face all the time' :

"Life is the constant search for true Happiness and then one day you realize it was staring you in the face all the time..."

I'm not really sure a bit about your request, but maybe it brings some help. A quite straight translation of your blue quotation with slight adaptation to sound like a native russian speaker might say

Жизнь - это постоянный поиск истинного счастья, и однажды ты понимаешь, что все это время счастье смотрело тебе прямо в лицо

thank you scmember for the translation. It's always a challenge to translate typical English expressions to another language without losing the indented meaning. I do like the way you did translate it

If you need a typical expression then "it was staring you in the face all the time" = "всё это время счастье было у тебя в руках"

Или ещё можно просто сказать: всё это время счастье было с тобой рядом.

"все это время счастье было прямо у тебя перед носом".

"счастье было у тебя в руках" - I don't like it. The meaning is different.

Тогда уже счастье всё это время было прямо перед твоим носом.

Или чтобы руки были всё-таки заняты:
счастье всё это время было прямо перед твоим носом - только протяни руку

thank you guys for all the variations, not being a native Russian I'm not sure which one would be the most appropriate in the quote.

"Жизнь - это постоянный поиск истинного счастья, и всё это время счастье было с тобой рядом." - is this one appropriate?

Я бы перевел так:
"Жизнь - постоянный поиск истинного Счастья, но в один прекрасный день ты осознаёшь, что всё это время Счастье было у тебя прямо перед глазами."
