It's difficult to understand what the author means exactly by "writing a seminary for the faculty", but I supposed that it's some written work they were asked to prepare for a seminar. In this case it may look like this: Вы можете мне помочь написать работу к семинару?

Действительно. Переформулируем: Обратите внимание на названия магазинов и компаний и на то, какие там присутствуют марки.

Ага...В крайнем случае можно и "брэнды" написать....

No. there is no "IS" in Russian.

Well, I don't think it matters, because there can only be one MAIN street.

I think the context is the key to understand the difference. I think there might be some intonation differences too.

yes, but it takes 5 minutes longer to say.

"Название главной питерской улицы?" is my donation. And I think the question in this form sounds as if someone gets a knife at your neck.
