    Nice translation остров невезения !

I think the only thing I found un-excellent (the rest was quite excellent) was this:

the corpse of a hit dog with fallen out guts

it sounds too... russian word orderish.
let me find the original... here it is:
труп сбитой собаки с вывалившимися кишками
yep, that would be the direct translation...

    Maybe this would sound better:
the corpse of a run-over dog with spilled guts

A really nice and heart-warming image I am getting here...
Hei, rett norsken min og du er død.
I am a notourriouse misspeller. Be easy on me.

Actually I was reading some more and seeing how you translated it... I came over a question why did you translate:

А ты встречал меня с доброй, но снисходительно-язвительной улыбкой: "Кого я вижу! Никак Ленаванна вернулись! А чё ж не пожилось на чужбинке-то?"

    to this:

Each time I returned you met me with a sarcastic smile. “Who do I see? Have you really come back? Couldn’t stay abroad?”

(I hope you don't mind me asking questions)

It's a great english sentence (nothing at all wrong with it), but it loses some of the style from the original.

Each time I returned you met me with a kind, but sarcastic smile: "Who is it I see? It can't be that Lenavanna has returned! Aren't they treating her well enough abroad?"

I admit the last part is a though cookie, maybe even a though cupcake.
I don't know if the чужбинке-то is physically abroad or just away from him... heck your translation is simpler and doesn't give me a headache
