I have difficulty in writing the following names in Russian.
I appreciate very much if you write them in Russian.

Why are you having troubles with the other ones? Just make a simple transliteration.

Actually, their spelling depend on their original pronunciation, so "a simple transliteration" is not the best solution.

I thank Kathrerina and Оля for the replies.

It is a tall order to write Russian. I must look at my Russian grammars and the Internet resources to write Russian. I can never write properly.

I must post here to get your help.

As Оля says a simple transliteration won't work. You should know good Russian

Оля is right. For example, “a simple transliteration” of the name Jayatissa is Джаятисса. As you see the letter j was translated as дж (like in the word Jupiter), but recently the Swedish name Johanna was discussed in the thread “Best translation of my name”, and you will find interesting example there, which uncovers a problem of name translation. Therefore, you have to try to convey a sound of each name, if you want to get a correct translation into Russian.

I have no problems with the original pronunciation. I speak English, Swedish and French.
Russian is a tall order to me.

For me Russian and French are beautiful languages.

I have been to Russia and France several times. I have been to the USSR during the Communist era. I flew with Aeroflot several times.
I was in the great city of Leningrad and visited the Hermitage.

I will visit the Hermitage again. I will cross the border between Russia and Finland. I will take the ferry to Finland. Then I will go over the land to Russia. I did the same trip in the past.

Try using dictionaries. I'm sure they are worth your attention. I would recommend you the first link if you don't know any suitable resources and don't have good paper/installable dictionaries for translating from/into the languages you use.

It was not about you personally. The "you" in English can have an impersonal meaning. If it helps you, I can re-word my sentence this way: To write a name in Cyrillic, one should know its original pronunciation.

Just make a simple transliteration.

Благодаря "простой транслитерации" получаются всякие Сеаны вместо Шонов. )))

Also from which language you are translating. (I don't mean you personally by this you, the person who needs the translation, I mean the person who translates.) You should also know if there are traditional translations, when they should be used and when not.

Doesn't the example with the name Peter show good enough that to translate the name one should have more information? Ok, I'll try once more.

Both names are spelled Michael but they are translated differently into Russian.

You haven't given this information. You haven't written what you need the translation for (yes, it's important for the name translation, don't think it's my curiosity).
The names you've translated yourself are spelled correctly. And I'd say there are no other possibilities of translating the names Eric and Roger into Russian. But I also hadn't known the name Johann can be translated as Юхан before Jonanna asked how tho translate her name. But now Юхан seems to be the correct and even preferable translation of the Swedish name Johann (but not German one, of course). And if it's the name of one Swedish king, it can be only Юхан, not Йохан or something. So now I’m not sure in anything. )))
And we still don't know from which language you need the translation. English? Swedish? Some names from one language and others from another? Spanish? Italian? You may think it's obvious but it's not

hmm.. don't know why, but I considered that all names were spelled in English language, even though there are not English names.

Hm… If you know how loanword is pronounced, you know how it is spelt. It’s really easy, because there is only one way to convey a sound by letters in Russian.

Зависит от языка носителя имени.
Если Eva из Норвегии, то я бы перевел как Эва, ибо там звучит четкое Э.

It depend on native language of person.
If Eva is from Norway, I would translate as Эва because it sounds Э in Norvegian.
If Eva is from Poland, I would translate as Eва because there is a traditional Russian transcription of Polish names despite it sounds Э in Polish.
If Eva is from Bible, I would translate as Eва also due to the tradition.
