Well, that's an exclamation which can express anything the speaker wants: an astonishment or indignation or anything else. It's very colloquial but not extremly rude.
I think it can't be translated word by word though I have some ideas.

Hint: "ёханый" (also "ёкарный") is a euphemism for "ё*аный" - f@@king (*=б)

It means: "Oh, my God! or Devil!" It depends on the situstion. Sometimes it sounds vulgar(F@@K!)? sometimes funny. But, usually we use this idiom, when we're upset!

remember бляха муха while you at it. (note: i was told this wasn't v. rude) although my girlfriend sais exani babai a lot the word (at least to me) sounds very babushka-ish...
