    Basketball Translations

    I need some help with some basketball word translations from English to Russian.

    How would you say "coach" and "player" (like athlete).

    Also, how would you say "Lady Devils" (this is our mascot).

    What are some common things to say - like "fight" or "win"?

    coach=тренер
    player=игрок
    win(noun)=победа
    fight(noun)=борьба
    Lady Devils=дьяволицы (in russian sex is often determined by suffix, so there is one word required only)

    And one more thing: russian is all about chaining words by prefixes, suffixes and endings. So you can easily choose wrong forms of the same word without proper context. I recommend to you describe not only meaning required but context of it's application also.

    Thanks! What about "win" and "fight" as both verbs?

    Also, would "Леди дьявола" be wrong? In English, our female team is the "Lady Devils" and our male team is just the "Devils."

    "Леди дьявола" is "ladies of the devil". I think it's wrong. For example, movie "she-devil" in russian is translated as "дьяволица". So, "male team" is "дьяволы" and female team is "дьяволицы".

    "win"(verb)=победить/выиграть
    "fight"(verb)=бороться/сражаться
    You can note that roots of verbs are the same as nouns above, but suffixes and endings are changed. Beware not to use wrong form of word it heavily depends on context.
