Thread: 200years old handwritten text - help with reading and translation

Hi,

Can anyone please help me with figuring out what city is mentioned in the handwritten text in the attached picture? City is probably in Poland, Ukraine or Belarus.

Chaika, thank you for quick response. My original guess was also Warsaw, but Warsaw is mentioned somewhere higher in the text (not in the picture) and looks completely different (looks more like Варшава). I know it is possible that one city would be written in 2 different ways, but maybe author had different city in mind?

I thought that was it at first, but changed my mind, but could not delete post. Maybe can you put up some more of the text for comparative analysis? Especially if you have the sequence рѣ (r plus yat'). It looks like the writer made an error and overwrote something there.

So far I am guessing Варѣ_ка (the writer makes his к without connecting the vertical with the two legs). See Мазуркевичъ in the next line.

I do not have the whole text with me, but will try to upload it tomorrow.

Ramil, he only wanted to know one word in the text, what you wrote as Вар???а
