Oh, you mean Europe is more than one country?

I'm using Internet mostly at work. Our inet connection is not very fast, not very reliable, sometimes not working at all... but free.

I have dialup connection speed 40-46 Kbit/s (4-5 Kbyte/s)

I'm connected to Stream Neo,unlimited connection, monthly payment is 20$, connection speed 160 Kbit/s

I use WebPlus provider. Unlimited traffic, fixed public IP address, speed 256 kbps. 38 USD/month

They had great phone cards too -- it was pretty cheap to call the US, until I realized that they weren't actually taking off any of the minutes on my card (I assume technical difficulties), so I was able to get about 3 months use out of it (when it should have been about a month or so based on what I used.)

When I'm home I use GPRS-internet connection up to 15 KB/s. It costs from $0.12/mb. It's good enough for reading news and ICQ.

I'm in OKS-1 netwok. Probably Morgue* is going to offer such a thing, but I haven't seen it yet. In OKS we have 2 fast providers. Morgue offers his own cable line and, as an alternative, satellite connection. The latter is quick and twice cheaper, but has longer pings.

Well, I'm not familiar with many prices, but I know that still the main problem in Nsk is expensive magistral connection to Europe. It costs about 30$/Gb. (in the light of this price, 50$ in a month for just 1GB seems a bloody robbery!).

Ужасно. Я уже не мог бы жить с лимитными тарифами, я думаю. Мне бы нужно было гигов 5 на месяц стабильно.

Полностью безлимитных тарифов почти не существует.

Обычно это квазибезлимитные, вроде, назовём это безлимитным, но если ты, падла, сольешь больше 10-20-50 (нужное подчеркнуть) гигов, то попадешь на деньги, или обрежем тебе скорость до мопедной.

Для того чтобы мне обрезали скорость, нужно скачать 20 гигов. Максимум, который я когда-либо скачивал, пришёлся на первый месяц пользования безлимитным тарифом, он состовлял тогда примерно 15 гигов. Потом количество скаченных метров постепенно уменьшалось.

Лично я бы "потреблял" 20 гигабайт за неделю, а то и меньше, чем за неделю. Мне безлимитка только на руку. А скорость - это не всегда проблема. У меня проблема в том, что на загрузуку одного сайта потратится много драгоценных рублей. Не то чтобы я не знаю, что нужно, скажем, отключить загрузку картинок и т.п., просто этот самый контент бывает необходим. Приходится ограничиваться первой частью месяца, а далее практически не бывать в местах, где трафик жрётся немеренно - и ненапрямую (surfing) и напрямую (downloading).

After reading all this I can tell you that Australia has about the same fvcked up system that Russia has. As a matter of fact i'm certain that the stupid Aussies decided to pattern their Internet system after the Russians instead of the Americans.

There are plenty of service providers but a company called Telstra here, has a monopoly on the cables that feed the phones, TV, and Internet.
