you can eat pure butter if you burn enough calories......for example on Arctic expeditions many ate butter, and they gained no weight

More likely they are guilty not in world's obesity, but in world's dystrophy.

    more $$ = more fatties.
it seems obesity is on the up in every country, i drive to work and almost eveyone i see is fat, possibly becuause i drive through a poorer area so maybe kalinka has a point. but really, i work out, im not fat and the whole problem doesn't really bother me that much. if they wanna eat crap and deal with all the 'interesting' physical and psychological problems that go with it, fine - but rather than sueing the food companies, please get some balls, get on a tredmill and stop eating sh@t.

Well, my routine is; Three days on two days off in weight training. A 3 mile run every two days. I been doing it for years. I stay away from milk and breads.

I find that any time in which I eat at a restaruant I run the risk of over indulging becaust the huge potions of food served. I almost always order a chicken ceasar salad.

Perhaps this sounds boring to you but I have little interest in food.

God, undertaking an arctic expedition sounds bad enough without having to do that as well

I think it just comes down to that fact that many people are always rushed for time constantly. When they actually have the time to get a decent meal, they're still on their rushed schedule and just continue consuming crappy food. For me, I think it would be best for all fast food restaurants to promote healthier foods in order to keep obesity from continuing to "burst at the seams". And I'm not talking about those stupid salads that McD's has. I'm talking about real food. Those salads they have are awful and the salad dressings just make up for all that lost calorie intake.

Americans - just get used to it. Anything we do, it's our fault.

the fault is probably on the education system for ordinary citizens.

    2 words describe the cause

    bad lifestyle

I love doritos but I go to the gym and I'm lucky to have thin genes .

    Death back from the dead...hmmm.

I like to eat sugary things, so I guess I lied, I do get some pleasure out of eating.

BUT I skate about 6 hours a week plus I do other stuff off-ice. (And I have thin genes too hahaha) (btw because some people have asked me about it---I am a terrible skater. I just do it for fun)

I think it has to do with depression and just letting yourself go. My teacher said he got fat in grad school because he just didnt have the time to exercise. Also people get stuck in their careers and have no time.

Americans work more hours than everyone else. (according to my gov't teacher anyway)

I also have to agree with the person who said junk food/fast food is eaten mostly by the poor..and it is they who get obese...at least in America...

(at the gas station)bag of chips and a 20oz coke: ~$2.50(USD)
    (at the health/fruit store)organic fruit smoothie: ~$6.00(USD)

as you can see its much cheaper to get a horrible snack than a healthy one... and as far as eating dinner...as someone hovering below the poverty line I have to also agree that my family, and all of the other families i know in a similair financial position go out to a fast food place where dinner per person is under $5(USD) and *not* to some place else that costs $10-15(USD) per person...
