and some Italian when very young, but my parents did not persist it as I grew up.

And of course I've tried several times to learn Russian. I've gotten very good at asking where the institute is. And the toilet.

Положа руку на сердце, не могу сказать, что я и на русском, и на украинском говорю с рождения. Но сейчас мне трудно определить, какой я знаю лучше. Поэтому, и не только поэтому, я не пытаюсь их обозначить как "первый" и "второй", где бы я ни находилась, хотя поначалу сама удивлялась людям, которые пишут в резюме "такой-то и такой-то языки - родные". Тем более, что если для человека какой-то язык родной, это ещё не значит, что он им превосходно владеет.

My native language is english, but half the people here don't speak it. That half either speak Spanish or Armenian(sp?)

American English, and some German. (I minored in both English and German literature when I was in college, but alas! There is very little use for German in Idaho...had I chosen Spanish, I'd be well off...)
