...And why?
...And why?
I do not claim that my opinion is absolutely true.
If you've spotted any mistake in my English, please, correct it. I want to be aware of any mistakes to efficiently eliminate them before they become a habit.
Угу, так и мотает нас бедолаг. Либерализм - крутая штука, но позволить его мы себе не можем
Увы, мы - не Дания.

Sometimes liberal stuff is cool but too much can be a bad thing. Liberals want to do stuff like legalize drugs and that's not good. Then we could have drug cartels in America and that's not cool. But mostly it just gets confusing when things change too fast.
"Liberal" has a completely different meaning depending on where you come from! If you ask in an international forum you'll have to specify a bit more what precisely you want to know.
In Europe it usually refers to de-regulated financials, i.e. laissez-faire. I'm a bit hazy on what exactly it means in the USA, but judging from TV talk shows, it seems to be one step up from "communism" as far as many Americans are concerned. Being a feminist for example, is considered "liberal" in the USA, I believe.
I have no idea what liberal means to Russians if they expresion is even use there...
Russian views on liberalism are heavily biased these days. The reputation of the very idea is perversed by both followers and haters of this philosophy. Our liberal politicians and experts consider any other ideas wrong by default thus becoming quite the opposite to the original meaning of being "liberal". Those who hate liberalism blame the idea for being the cause of all our problems during the 90's because the politicians who failed us back then claimed to pursue the liberal values.
So today there are very few people in Russia who actually understand the original meaning of liberalism. It's not like we are unable to do that, but our recent history doesn't leave much space for that.
