Election thread is closed. Still I'd like to say a few words to its participants.
Sadly, my English prevents me from complete understanding your points of view, guys. But the fact the discussion has turned into a market place quarrel certainly upsets me.

Deb, you were the first one to launch this election thread. And now you are like, “Why do you come here? This is a language forum.” I don’t understand. Though I agree that 14 was not absolutely correct, too.

People bring up various topics here. Sometimes they speak about the acutest things like religion, homosexualism, nationalism. These issues have always made people a little catty. We can either smooth things over, stay in peaceful mood and enjoy each other's company or spoil our day.

It’s not that I’m so perfect and always am that wise. It’s just because it’s so obvious when you are an onlooker.

Sure we do dear,we are here to enjoy!
Helenej ,Deb is really a kind girl,i'm sure she really doesn't mean somethings in some argues.she is so sweet,you will understand it .
I sometimes say somethings that i don't mean,too.we girls always do.and also we girls get offended really soon too!
i am not learning Russian right now)) but i'm in this website and meet people,get to know them,talk about different things other than language -mostly in general chat-
So It's nothing wrong!

I think Helene is right...we have a choice to be either peaceful, or upset, and we should choose to be peaceful. I think we should be tolerant of the opinions of people in the forum.

I didn't mean to be so hard on 14Russian... it just felt like he was trying to turn the thread into a big discussion about conspiracy theories, and he insulted everyone, and I felt like I needed to say something. By all means, if everyone wants to discuss conspiracy theories, be my guest. I didn't close the thread, btw, Lampada did.

Ну уж нет, я не согласна. Я люблю спорить. В смысле не ругаться, а обмениваться мнениями, пытаться доказать свою точку зрения, узнавать что-то новое. Это интересно и это полезно. Без этого жизнь будет пресной. Просто надо спорить по-доброму.

True, I prefer "Deb" or Debs" but Lampada didn't know, and I didn't think it would be приятно to say anything. It isn't that big of a deal in any case.

I agree Helene. Good natured debate is important to learning. We can argue, we just have to respect each other as we do it, I think.
