I am not lying or trying to create discussion.

And he says PEACE AT HOME PEACE IN THE WORLD.
No matter what your views, you must recognise that a website dedicated to the man is not a very unbiased, neutral source of information.

For every site you can find saying he was a great man, you can probably find a Greek site saying he wasn't.

This is a RUSSIAN forum, and I personally don't give a @@@@ about this Ataturk man.
Don't blame him, it is their govermental propaganda which makes Kemal look like a saint. These things are happening everywhere.
And perhaps it's Greek governmental propaganda which makes Kemal look like a monster. These things are happening everywhere. :P

Even if Greek propaganda is not fair with Kemal, the genocide of the Pontians and the Greeks of Ionia is a fact that can't be forgotten so easily.

It's more than just the Greeks. Ataturk slaughtered and ran the Armenians from their land. The man was a monster, and I can't believe people here would condone his actions.

You want proof? Go to this link, though I warn you that it is brutal.

Or to quote Enver Pasha, one of the triumvirate rulers of the Ottoman Empire (May 19, 1916)...

"The Ottoman Empire should be cleaned up of the Armenians and the Lebanese. We have destroyed the former by the sword, we shall destroy the latter through starvation."

    Lovely group of genocidal slime.

*sigh* I don't want to turn this into a flamefest, so I'll go. My 2-cents have been given.

You should be very happy to know that the Papuans were quite helpful against the Japanese during WWII. Many of my family members grew up in Papua New Guinea. (and Pitcairn Is.) As a matter of fact where i sit right now I am surrounded by Papuan artifacts (spears etc.)

Is that why he killed 400,000 Pontians, when he had the chance with the help of the West?

I don't have something with you, but don't tell me Kemal was a peace lover .
Of course he was a peace lover.

This topic was opened with the aim of finding some Turkish people on this forum, but once again as I have witnessed everywhere, The Greek members succeed to turn it into a flame-war again

Like it or not, Ataturk's statues are everywhere in the world: Romania,Mexico,Cuba.

Like it or not, UNESCO cleebrated his 100.birthday anniversay in 1981.

Like it or not,hic achievements are still admired worldwide.

I know for The some pan-Hellenist Greeks ,it is still a pain in their ass for the fact that under the leadership of Ataturk and thanks to weapons provided by the Soviets, The Turks defeated the invading Greek army and re-established a new country.

It is just ridiculous when you read their claims. Because it was the Hellas itself that mourned when Ataturk died. It was then- Greek prime minister Venizelos himself who nominated Ataturk for Nobel peace prize.!!!!

History is an invation, and you guys proved to me once again to what extend it can be dangerous.

I don't blame you guys. Clearly your brains have been brainwashed somehow.. But I wanna suggest you guys one thing: TO COMPARE.
Just compare what you read with other sources...you cna not be scientific unless you're comparing.

Is this why visitors of South American countries put down their deep symptahy to Ataturk in the the words whenever they visit Ankara?

Let us be realistic. One imsinformed guy in Lima does not account for the whole continent. :P

Have you spent enough time in this big continent? I don't have nothing against your country, your Ataturk or the people who live there but the truth is that, accept it... not well seen here in America.

Deep sympathy??? Firstly, to know that Ataturk here, people at least have to have a certain level of interest in your country so maybe you're speaking for only some of the few tens or hundreds (at much) of Latin Americans who goes there...

Other than that, I'm not interested in discussing this irrelevant topic... I just wanted to make known this part of the world's most widely spread opinion.

    Greetings,

    C

Is this adressed to me, Turkie?

By identifying an individual (Venizelos) with Hellas you lose or your realiability, no need to discuss further. Just be sure that you owe everything for what you are now in the West and the Soviet Union, not Kemal. Kemal would be absent from your history without them.

P.S. If the majority of the diplomants were like you, the world would have been burned already .
